Why, it is a Camaro, since 1967 these things have made them selves at home and a familiar site at drag strips and road courses across the country. It's a performance vehicle with a long history of being some thing popularly modified, 5th gen should be treated no different and subject of it's own new history of racing, the same as model years of past of have enjoyed. The only people who would gasp are the car queers (waxers/ car show posers) who think modifying/racing a car is destroying it. They generally dislike people like us.

i only posted this because of the time no one wastes anymore in tearing into a new car. I can remember back when the forth gens were new and it seemed like forever before someone did any extensive mods to those cars.

The only reason I saw that is crazy isbecause of the price. I mean if that is an SS car decked out, what did it cost? $50k? A lot of money to **** away on one car for a race car just to start out. Doesn't count of the money thats going to go into it.

While I disagree with the term "car queers", I do agree that numbers-matching restoration guys can be overzealous. I've seen a lot of clapped-out 4th gens on the road these days, as it looks like a lot of their owners stopped caring about the appearance of their cars, as long as it goes fast. To me, that's just not cool.

Most people can't fathom modding a brand new car, especially one that is nearly $40K. Still, if you have the means, and you know the "risks", go for it.

Thing about numbers-matching cars, though...They all started out as new cars at some point. In most cases, they've been modified, and someone went through the time and expense of tracking down the "correct" parts, and put the car back to like-new condition. Cars we consider classics today were new at some point, too.

Here's something to think about. A 1969 Camaro SS had a base price of $3100. These days, a restored '69 SS goes for $30K and up. If a 2010 SS has a base price of $31,000, does that mean it will be worth $310,000 in 40 years? I highly doubt it.

Mod away, I say. And if anyone has a problem with it, remind them that it's not their car.

Thats because they had piece of **** LT1 engines in them when 4th gens were new. Not much for them back then to make any real power.

I'm all for drag cars like this one, but why not start out with a V6 Camaro if your just going to gut it like you did. I'm sure your going to get a new motor, tranny, rearend any ways. just sayin...

I wake up everyday and go straight to the texas members to see what people are arguing about now. It only takes one persons response to change the entire meaning of a thread. I love the texas members. Lol!

Possies had a saying"anyone can restore a car-it takes a real man to cut it up". Its not like any 4th or 5th gen can ever be a numbers matching car.

I agree, if you have the means of doing it, go for it.

Side note, thread-jack...didn't they offer the 2010 Camaro "Body-in-white" where you didn't have to go through tearing a new one down?

They could have just done the white version and they would have saved themselves some money.
