So I did a search and only came up with one small little possible fix of adding some silicon to the joint. Anyone else come up with something or try this to see if it helps keep the mirror from creeping down when you hit a bump.

That would get annoying. I'd say just replace the damn mirror if some RTV doesn't stiffen it up.

I thought some of the roads around here were bad. My 98's mirror doesn't self-adjust like that.

Yeah, I'm going to take a closer look at it tonight to see what's up.
For how tight everything else is in the car it's kind of wierd.

Never heard of this before, post up if you find a way to fix it.

Well, I took it down tonight, looked it over. It seems really tight. So all I did for now is rotate the middle black piece so that it's rubbing on a new area of the ball in a new direction. Seems to be atouch tighter. If that doesn't work, I'm going to rough up the ball.

I'll let you know if it works or not, but I don't drive it much. So you might want to try this too and see if you get any good results. It's just a matter of twisting the middle black portion.

Well, finally drove the same route again yesterday. No issue with mirror this time, so I'm going to say the fix worked. Just rotate the middle link so it's moving in another direction. Should be good to go.
