Default Is this typicall for the t56s

The other day blew the t56. Just got word back from the trans shop they said the obvios 3-4 shift fork but also said the shaft that the shifter mounts to was broke is this common. The shop is replacing it and putting in a steel shift fork and carbon syncrows and changing all the bearings and seals for 900.00. figured while i have it tore down might as well do it right. I am replacing my clutch with a centerforce duel friction and a tick.

The 3-4 shift fork has been a long standing issue in the T56 units.

I suspect they were talking about the plastic socket the shifter engages. This is a common wear part. Breaking the actual shift rail is not common. Its hard to really tell what they were talking about from what was shared.

Also, you are getting a good deal for all the parts and labor if they are also including bearings and shifter rail as well for teh price you said.

I am glad it is getting fixed.

On a side note, it is funny when people go to sell the T-56 and tell you they got a good one for dirt cheap, I wonder how many of them were hurt to begin with.

yeah it was the actuall shift rail. We have a good trans shop here that does good work. my buddys lt1 puts 350 on motor and he sprays it with 200 shot and its still alive.
