Default Vats issue please help

ok i just got my car fixed i had a vats problem now my buddies t/a is having the same problem, but when i tried to test the resistor in the key and it doesn't do anything and he doesnt have a spare anyone got any ideas

I would assume it's the same on a 98 vette, if so put the key in and check the resistance of the 2 white wires going to the ignition switch....should be the same ohms as when you just test the resistor key itself....if you cant get a ohm reading on the resistor (both sides are clean right?) then I would have to say the resistors shot but Ive never heard any go bad. thats as far as ive gotten into that stuff....I assume when you said you tested it you mean with an ohmeter?
