Street and Performance sells a kit to change the tailshaft, but it's over $500. It's on page 105 of their online catalogue. I've been using a cable x for years and it seems to work good.

I have the cable x and bought it through ebay i believe straight through them. It is the 30 slot box that helps with it being erratic and it works perfect. I also wanted to keep my stock gauges

I have not had any problems but i have a 30 slot unit. When you buy one make sure you ask for the 30 slot. It make the speedo smoother. You have to program the unit with all your ratios to get it to read the correct speed. If you have any questions they are good with giving you the answers. Also when you wire it you have to go to the speed sensor off the trans not through the computer. Simple 3 wire hook up

cableX: does the 30 slot unit work below 30MPH, ie the needle doesnt jump from 0-30MPH? I have been following another thread and that is the issue they report.

and where do you have the box mounted? I am going to need something soon so I am in research mode.

The 30 slot unit cures that problem. I addressed that problem before i bought it and they recomended the 30 slot unit. I have no problems with mine, very smooth and accurate.
