Red face Dumb Caliper Question...

I found a really good price on CTS-V calipers at a certain website. However, they only have the front right calipers listed. Customer support said that they didn't stock the left calipers...

Common sense tells me that the left and right calipers must be different, but I figured I should make sure. I can't just buy two of those calipers, right?

LOL, that sucks. That really makes no sense as to why they would only have one side, buy the one side from them and the other from somewhere else unless you get screwed on shipping from buying from 2 different places.

A friend of mine got a set of Brembo's off an STI for his WRX for a steal a few years ago, not until he got home did he realize he had 2 left side calipers. The difference? position of the bleeder valve otherwise R/L are identical with the Brembo's he had. Kinda hard to bleed your brakes when the bleeder valve is on the bottom of the caliper

also brombo calipers are directional > the piston sizes are different according to the rotation of the rotor. You need a LEFT and a RIGHT for sure.

To be able to bleed your brakes the "bleed" valves must point up, if you buy two of the same side, one of the bleeders will face down.

Hey:

They only need to be from one side as the bleeder and line in from top to bottom are interchangeable. The universal Brembo Calipers are just flipped over and the bleeders removed from the bottom and replaced by the piston connection line, that was on the top and the bleeders are then moved to the top, Pretty simple swap.
The only downside to this is you may have different brake line attaching points, that to make the same would need to be drilled and tapped, as well as the old end plugged, if this model only has the 1 end drilled and tapped already. So where was the web site that had such a deal on them?
