Not sure if the engines swap right in or if there are minor differences but it it were me id build a 400 small block chevy or a 350ci block bored .030 over with a 400 crank making a 383ci. SBCs are cheap to build, easy to find parts for and make great power when setup correctly.

Another thing you may think about if a SBC will swap in is an LT1. Im not a huge fan of them myself but they are great for swaps. Motor mounts are in the same place, they have plenty of torque and can be had for dirt cheap. I picked up a 96 LT1/4L60E out of a vette for under $1,000 with 40,000 miles on it for my show truck.

You have a car that has alot of potential and can be done a thousand different ways.

i cant remember right now, need to pull out some old hot rod magazine issues or someting, but theres something about a 307 block that you cant just throw a 3.48 crank in it and build it like a 350. i just always throught they were worthless, are you sure the bore is 4.00?
