If the turbo is 3" that's what I'd run. I was looking at doing twin 76's and I was going to do 3" dp's off both of them.

If the turbo is 3 inches, then 3.5 is better. 4 would be even better....The gas is as hot as we can keep it, up to the turbo housing, but after the turbo housing you want it to cool as fast as possible, because cold gas takes up less space (more dense) and therefore you can fit more in a given space. The gas seeks low pressure, which is atmosphere. The easier you make it to achieve standard pressure the better your exhuast works, and the better you clear the cylinder.

The transition from 3 to 3.5 or 4 helps disrupt the spin of the gas induced by the turbine. A divider in the exit of the turbo also stops the spin of the gas and gets it to move down the pipe rather then around and around like a flushing toilet which hurts your exhuast capable volume because it going around in circles rather then getting out the pipe straight. Like making a straight pass at the track or driving side to side, back in forth in teh lane.....which is faster.

In the end.......the best exhaust for a turbo car, is the largest that fits.

This is true ^^^ but if you are having space constraints, like me, you should be fine with 3". But yes the bigger the better.
