Shell Rotella T synthetic 5-w40 oil???
Any one using Shell Rotella T synthetic 5-W40 oil?
I hear a lot of good stuff about this oil, i switched over to it, in my van , box truck and S10 pick up, over from regular conventional 10-30 oil , i was using what ever was on sale, vavoline, GTX, cam 2 , mobile, etc
but how good is it in a high performance engine like the LS motors?
is the 5-W40 weight ok?

What I know is that unless is a build you should stick with the 10W30 or the 5W30 if you go with a little thicker oil when hot the journals/bearings and such are made to flow the 10w30 oil no probs. If it gets thicker you could be creating a situation where you engine on one side of the flow journal&bearings has no oil and the other side has way too much pressure because the oil can't flow fast enough. But then again I could be wrong. Now if its an older engine maybe you can run it with no issues but again I am only one opinion.

Your already improving by going to a synthetic, a heavier oil, everything else being equal, takes horsepower, stick with 10W-30, my choice is Amsoil for what is worth, I've gotten a consistent 3-5% increase in HP switching from conventional, on my dyno.
