It wasnt plenty strong on the old 3rd gens.... I beleive the Aussi 9 bolt was stronger back in the day then the 10 bolt (dont quote me)...
G-bodys have been plagued with the same issue as use with the weak 10bolt grenading behind a stock motor. What I cant believe is the Grand National and Cutlass 442 came with 8.5in 10bolts that are much stronger (see then in the 9's stock) and the GN only had 245hp v6's... and the 442 was a 307 with 190hp....
I think a 8.5in rear in our cars from the factory would have been nice... I meen hell from 93-02 nearly 9yrs and I know those LT1 cars have been snapping rears left and right that when they went from 285hp LT1's in 97 and then to 310hp in 98 and 325hp on WS6's that they could have also introduced a better rear with the LS1

I cracked the entire posi housing and blew chunks of it off. Also bent a couple of the worms gears in the posi.
This all happened in my 2002 Z28 cam/headers only. Left the line at no more than 2200-2300rpm on sticky mickeys. It actually rolled all the way down the track......of course it totally locked up when I tried to turn off of the track.
