Default How big of a difference do the head lights make.

ON a T/A at the strip, how big of a difference does it make with the headlights being up or down.

Probably not too much on a stock/near stock (106mph - 112mph car) but might mean more on a really fast one...I still wouldn't leae them up regardless though for every little bit helps.

I tried it at the track and it made a .05 second difference. Just run the fog lights if they tell you to use your lights. Tom

There's no way you can attribute that .05s difference to your headlights. The weather changing ever so slightly would do that. Lots of conditions would do that.

i dont think it really makes any difference (like the truck guys who tuck in thier sideview mirrors and open thier rear gates) but when they tell me to turn on my lights i just turn on the fog lights because it makes me feel better that way plus you dont have the whole going up and slamming whatever it is that makes them stop then slamming whatever makes them stop when they are going down, so if you're going rounds at night you arent destroying your headlight motors any faster than if you were racing during the day

Actually I think the pickup truck tail gate thing does make a bit of difference, it can catch some serious air, plus if you remove the gate altogether you'll save some weight.

I've tested the headlights up vs down and gained a .1 and 1mph every time ive done it. Also the tail gate thing is worth it. I use to have a V8 s10 and at the time it ran 12.8s@108 and it gained .15 tenths and almost 3mph by dropping the tail gate down. So believe it or not, it helped me.
