The big problem with installing a HUD in a car that wasn't originally equipped with one is that you need to have a reflective coating on the windshield. All of the aftermarket setups I've seen have a self-adhesive film that you apply on the inside of the windshield which just looks really cheesy/half-a$$ed to me...

(Think "JC Whitney cheap"...)

It's not necessary if you only drive the car at night or when it's somewhat dark outside. You can still see them in the daytime without the coating/film - but just barely.

I converted my C5 Hardtop to HUD and my car does NOT have the special coated windshield. The HUD display is fully visible under all conditions: bright sunlight, low light, and night.
