Default GM splined Grant quick release issues?

ok this is a very serious question.... if you dont have this quick release hub dont answer.

last night for some reason my steering wheel popped off in the middle of a run.

i need to know if anyone else has had this happen with this particular quick release hub....

it did it 2x in one night.... the first was in the burnout box which i thought was a fluke. so i snapped that bitch back on and made sure it was on very good...

the next run it popped off after the car came back down from the 60'... scared the F*** outa me and i had to grab the little splined shaft and turn it as hard as i could counter clockwise to keep from hitting the wall.... after that run i put the car back in its box....

i'm putting a hexagon shaft on it anyways but i wanted to know if anyone else had this problem.

If you use the stock nut to hold it on the shaft it wont go on all the way. You have to be real careful that the shaft doesnt stick out too far as well. When it locks in all the way you cant get it off, if it engages 80% you can pull it right off.

Same thing can happen with the hex shafts as well if you dont push them on all the way, always give the wheel a good pull when you put it on.

Mine never came off, but it's always in the back of my mind.
The reason being, like said above sometimes you think you have in on, but it's only about 80% on. Once you put it on give it afew GOOD pulls.
I found that if you put some grease on the splines that helps it slid on easier.
Sometimes it's still a bitch to put on, especially when your adrenaline is flowing.

Don't they have a pinned version as well? I run a pinless, never had an issue. I usually pull it a couple times after I install it though. I rarely take it off anyways.

I haven't had any problems out of mine either but the thought is always in the back of my head. I make sure to get some good pulls on it after install
