How to: T-Top lock swap
I destroyed my drivers side t top (link to destruction video).
Anyway, I acquired a replacement, and it came with a key to lock it. I didn't want to carry around an extra key just for one t top so I swapped my old lock in. I'm sure not too many people need to ever do this, but if you do, here's how.
Time required : 10 minutes
Tools required : Phillips screwdriver, small flat head screwdriver or a knife or anything that you can pry tiny retainer clips out with.
-Remove the screws that hold the trim on, there's 1 on each side...
-Remove the retainer clip or whatever it's called that holds the handle on
-When you go to pull off the trim make sure you detach this area otherwise you could break the plastic and it won't reseat properly
-here's what the guts should look like (only hopefully yours are less rusty)
-remove the retaining clip from under the lock. This one was very easy, I just used the screwdriver handle to pull it out.
-pull the lock out
-Put the new lock in place (it will only go in one way, so don't worry you can't screw this up), and reassemble everything in the opposite order you took it apart.

When I bought the car I had a lock in the passenger side but the driver side was GONE the WHOLE MECHANISM just a gaping hole. Wherever I look only the cylinder is available but where do I get the housing?
I had to drill out the passenger side lock because there was no key that came with the car.
Thanks in advance.

What year though? If it is 1993-1994 the lock doesn't come with that silver bit at the bottom of the lock in the last picture above.
Good luck finding it too, I can't find anyone who even knows what it is called or where to get it.
