6l90 to 4l80e questions
After a major ordeal to find a tranny for my 79 Toyota Landcruiser swap, I ended up going with a 2008 4l80e 4WD trans that can be adapted to my Toyota transfer case.
Question 1: Can I use the flexplate from my 2008 ly6 6.0 liter that originally had a 6l90 behind it with the 4l80e or do I need a different flexplate?
Question 2: Will the transmission section of the ly6 harness that was originally for the 6l90 work with the 4l80e? I understand everything will have to be reprogrammed - speartech will be doing the harness conversion for me.
Question 3: I understand the length differences between the 4l70e that most people are using in Toyota conversions (couldn't find one) and the 4l80e. Are there any other dimensional differences that I should be concerned about from a trans tunnel clearance standpoint? My tranny should be on the floor this week and the adapter and tcase parts should be here late next week.
Thanks for all of your help - the input here has definately helped me get this far!!!

Should work but might need a crank spacer
Question 2: Will the transmission section of the ly6 harness that was originally for the 6l90 work with the 4l80e? I understand everything will have to be reprogrammed - speartech will be doing the harness conversion for me. No the 4l80 with the E38 ECM will need a separate TCM for the 4l80 to work. Contact Speartech first and se what they can do with the harness.
Other than length they are pretty close.
