Default burned 3/4 cluch pack

I rebuilt my Trans myself first time have ever tried this. I lost 3rd gear took trans out and found my 3/4 clutch pack junk 200 miles on it any help on why this is would be great also why I lost 3rd gear. I am running my stock converter posted about the 3rd gear problem and was told my ring busted but it is not broken just junk clutches

I would check the inside of the stator for grooves where the teflon rings ride. I would chaech the seals pertaining to the 3-4 clucth set There are three . The inner outter and the oring

i thought it went ez tell now ha ha ha the

stator was good and were the teflon rings

When you built the unit what was your 3-4 clutch clearance measurement ?

Thats higher than I would have done I like .020 to .030 and it would have opened up after a few cycles some too . Did you use the flat square helper springs in the drum also?

the ones that go on the side no i did not use them

Well that blows one theaory out , I was thinking that maybe the clearance was too high and the plates collided via those.

ok I got in to the lower part of the 3/4 basket and the seals look good I remember when I was putting everything back together I didn’t know how the old ones came off so I left them because they looked good and I know that they can be bad any way so how do I change the seals just rip the old ones off some of them look like there one part

well i dont know i have looked the seals over and over there is not one thing wrong with them the trans only had 60k miles on it any other input on what it could be would be great something else to check before i put it all back together

ok here is the story you can not replace the seals on the parts in the bottom part of the basket you can only buy the parts new and they have the seals on them

Actually you can you just need a ring resizer you can also make one makeshift with some heater hose and a clamp
