I had a new windshield put in my car after i painted it not thinking about where the carb would sit and when i got my intake from cary i realized just how tall it is. Since i am running a carb would you mount it sideways or should i get a lexan and cut it out with the dash and have it straight???
Does this look dumb?????

chopped mine all up, but it does not sit as high as your does. didnt know you could run them sideways. i think i might switch mine since the throttle cable is in there pretty tight, and needs constant lube.

Thank you. Totally different animal. Trust me, I didn't start with a Pro-Mod. I started with a 16 second F-body.
You guys are doing amazing things with these LS cars. I wish we had them when I was a kid.

I wanted to go faster, I never realized it would be so hard. I had my fill of fighting the small tire issues,
so I went this way. When & if you want to make the next step, you'll see, it's not as glamorous as it looks.
It is cool when a customer comes by the shop & their eyes bug out.
Unfortunately that doesn't help pay the bill's or run the car.

Good luck with your toy, looks sweet so far.

you would need an adapter to turn yours sideways since you have a 4150 base. the original poster has a 4500 flange which is square so it can be turned sideways without any adapters. also i believe you have to change some things in the carb to run it sideways.

well then, i guess i will leave it alone. not worth the hassle if i can get away without doing it.

I use a 4500, and I think I'm going to turn it sideways, so the cable and bracket arn't ran so tight.

BINGO. 4500 carbs are flat as opposed to 4150 style which as a slight slope.

Just for info. I ran dual 4150's sideways for 2-3 years.
My crew chief for ~15 years, and my trans guys for ~15 years.
There is no problem with the correct top.

Nope, the intake manifold usually has a forward slope (due to stock engines leaning rearward slightly).

Mine (4500) is sideways. You will either have to run wedge or trapezoid shaped floats.

Jet it square, and be sure to look at both the front AND rear sight plugs when setting the floats.

Depending on the rake of the car and the angle of the engine and carb pad, you may not be level (mine is at like 10 degrees), so your floats will be way off if you just go off the front sight plug and put it right in the middle.
