It appears my waterpump gasket is leaking a bit. Is it hard to remove the water pump and install another gasket? I would just get a new waterpump as well, but mine is working fine and i figure i should fix the leak....

Is it hard to remove the waterpump? Any install directions? I assume i have to jack the car up?

Also, is their anyway to check the coolant level on an LS1? It makes me paranoid not knowing how low i am and when i should change this thing...

Water pump install is straight forward.

-remove belt
-drain coolant
-remove hoses
-remove pump
-install thermostat on new pump
-re-install

How many miles are on the car? I find it harder to believe that the gasket is leaking than the actual pump needs to be replaced.

To check the coolant level you just take off the radiator cap when the motor is cool...

Not a bad install at all. Basically like mentioned above. I would pull the lid and induction off the car to give you more room to see what's going on. Be sure to look and confirm that the gaskets are indeed where the coolant is coming from. Hopefully it is just a simple gasket swap for you!

Where is the distributor on these cars? Is it behind the water pump? Because that would make things difficult...

Also, are water pumps known for going on LS1's, or was that an LT1 thing?

Now that I have quit laughing I am going to assume that you are serious with the last question ... ... there us no distributor on LS series engines ... they use a PCM and coil on plug ect., ect. ... water pumps usually live a long time on these engines ... as was mentioned before it is not hard to replace the pump or gaskets if that is the problem.

Where is your water pump leaking from...?

The overflow container has a dipstick attached to the cap... also, if you remove the radiator cap the coolant should be all the way to the top.

hoepfully you fixed your issue, my first one started seeping at about 67K and 4 years later with 90K on the second pump i need to replace it this week because it's seeping bad
