Default 5.3L 706 Heads, Milling, Port & Polish, Cam & Spray Questions.

I recently acquired some 5.3L 706 Heads, the plan is to get them ported and polished. Should I use the 241 valves off my current stock heads or would the stock 706 valves be alright?

Two other things.. How much should I get them milled to? I currently have a Torquer 2 cam and plans to run nitrous, I just want to run a 100 shot for now, but I'm looking at spraying up to 200 in the future. The specs on the Torquer 2 are: 232/234 112 LSA .595/ .598.

Now I currently have the PRC Double Spring and 7.400 Chromoly TSP Pushrods on my 241 heads, can I re-use these springs and pushrods with these new heads with no problem? Springs, pushrods and cam have about 2,500 to 3,000 miles.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

should be able to use the existing springs, but have a prof. machine shop inspect them and install them before reinstallation. since the heads are getting machined/ported anyway.

imo not worth spendin $ on 706 just to accomplish the same flow as stock 243 or 799. find a good set of 243/799 upgrade with vj, 2.02 valves upgrade, mill and your springs. spend way less than a p/p order.
imo

Thanks for the feedback, but this deal on these heads were too good to pass up. I got them for real cheap.

Anymore feedback? How much milling?

i have a set of these heads on my work bench right now waiting till spring to complete the job. I had the heads cut for the 2.00" valves, when the new seats were cut it automatically leaves you with A THREE ANGLE VJ, it only cost me $80 for the machine work and im cleaning up the port work myself, so these heads are extremely economical!

I have been told that the v2 cam is a tight fit (even without milling) and i couldnt get a very straight answer on weather or not there would be a ptv issue.
however im dying to know how it works out for you
