Vats Key
Hey guys
I work at American Camaro and Firebird and we are seeing an increase of people loosing their keys and having to get their system interrogated.
It seems to be a big problem people not having extra vats keys.
We recommend going to your local key shop(you might call first) to make sure they have the equiptment to find out what number your key is. Our lock shop does this for about $25.00. That is cutting the vats key with the proper chip number. GM is quite a bit more for this service. $25.00 is not much to save you lots of hassel on down the road.
I have seen customers spend a couple hundred dollars having to have a lock smith come to their location and figure the number or have the car towed to them.
Just some info that might save my fellow car enthuaist a few bucks and a whole lot of time and hassel. I am going to follow my own advice Monday and get a back up key for my 91 Firebird.
Just wanted to share this though as I see people cry every day over loosing the keys.
Happy Weekend eveyone
