Have you guys seen this Camaro yet? I am thinking about getting this turbo kit for mine. Everyone told me that you guys were knowledgeable and for me to come over here from Camaro5 to ask you what you think.

I don't know anything about that particular turbo kit, but I'm going to have mine fabbed up by one of the Board vendors. I'm also looking into starting off with a T-6 flange so I have room to grow on once I build my motor. That way if I decide to go massive turbo, I may be able to get away with just swapping the turbo & DP.

It seems to be a well put together kit and they are selling it for $5995. It has a T4 flanged turbo so you could fit up to a GT47R which is good for 1200whp. I can't imagine you going for more than that. There is a huge thread on the camaro5 forum if you wanted to see about it. I don't know everything about turbos but it looks good to me.

IMHO, you're going to need 600rwhp+ to be a threat with them. Sweet kit though, it just needs to get between 600-650rwhp.

You never know when you need to go THUMPER. ;) Also I'm sure the boost wasn't turned up all the way. I would like to see 600 rwhp & just drive it to destruction, then build a hardened motor.

They are running 8.5 psi of boost to obtain the 530 rwhp/550 rwtq. They are also reporting IAT's of 109F at redline during their dyno pulls.

I wonder what the true drive train loss is through the A6 & IRS? I would guess that @ 8.5 psi & IAT's of 109 that it would be around 600 rwhp through an M6.

Yeah that could probably happen with a bigger turbo.
8.5psi from different turbo's provide very different results.

That is seriously awesome, but did you guys look at the stock WHP? holy shit only 314whp????? The tq was like 311...I sure hope that particular dyno just reads really low.

It was an automatic L99 car, mine only dynoed 320whp on a dynojet. There is a lot of drivetrain loss on these cars.

They said that on a M6 it would be about 3% higher numbers on it.

Thats really low even for a Auto. Was it on a mustang dyno?

For $6000 there are so many other things you could do and get more horsepower. How much does a full exhaust system bump the horepower up to alone?

I would disagree. For $6000 dollars you can have over 700 whp. Besides a crazy shot of nitrous, I don't know what else you could get for that price that would give you that much bolt on horsepower.
Many people have made high 600's to low 700's with that turbo to the wheels.
Remember that is on an automatic on wastegate springs (8.5 psi) that's actually the lowest horsepower it will possibly make.

Are you serious?
No, for $6,000 there is NOTHING that will out perform a properly tuned turbo setup... They are not even pushing this setup at 8.5psi... add a little methanol injection and you could easily see numbers in the low 700s... this is on a STOCK engine... add a cam and expect another 75-100hp at that level. Either way they are leaving a lot on the table with only 8.5 psi, but I can understand why they dont turn it up... 8.5 is a safe number to advertise.
The reason why the turbo is "small" is that it's designed to be a street friendly setup... There is no sense in putting a 1000fwhp capable turbo on a car that will never break 800, all you're doing is making the car a turd... From the videos, this setup sounds very well matched for a stock engined car. Contrary to popular belief, bigger is not better when it comes to turbos. A matching combo is the most important part of a turbo setup, and this one appears to be right on the money.

I love that kit and if it comes with the intercooler for that 6k pricetag than its a sweet deal. Change to a less restricive exhaust, turbo cam, Fast 102/102, you'll be making monster hp without even messing with the boost.

Actually alot of L99 owners are complaining about low numbers. Alot say its the tune, not the drivetrain loss. I have also read that the dealers puttin 87 octane in hurts the computer and you need to run the premuium through it, then take the computer fuse out over night and it will reset the computer to the hotter premium tune. There is a camaro5 thread about it.
