Engine builders should know this. I got my LS2 block in today. What are these numbers? There are some original serial numbers on it, like this "72743" maybe a casting number?

and "7277143022", this looks like an original serial number.

But then there's this that looks machined in recently (Get a load of the upside down "5" on the left....

And this one, "X245-247". Anyone know what is with the dots?

Dont know what the last couple are but the last may be a quality check ID, but the first one is the casting year/day (the 3 may be the shift number), the second is the completed block serial number. 7 is the year, 277 the day of the year, last 6 digits a unique sequential number. Though oddly have seen a lot with "22" in them.

Thank you. I'll put that in the directory of information about the block.
