Default Timing chain replacement on 2001 silverado

I was wondering how easy or hard it is to replace the timing chain on a 2001 2500 HD Silverado, 6.0.

Engine doesn't need to be pulled does it?

you should be fine if its under 150k. If not its gravy. drain coolent, pull hoses, take off belt, remove shroud, pull off water pump(you can even leave the fan on) pull balancer, pull cover, turn crank till dots line up , remove. then go back in the reverse order.

Remember to get new cover gasket, wp gaskets crank seal and crank bolt.

Almost 300K miles, this is a work truck that gets driven all day.

Thanks for the info. I searched for an hour on the net and couldn't find anything. And didn't want to join a truck forum.

If you have that many miles on it I would look at least doing valve guides seals, lifters, lifter guides, oil pump and clean the bottom of the oil pan and pick up tube.
