Getting very close on my custom rear mount GTO

Using the Shurflo 8000-643-210 on Zombie's recomendations

What size (diameter) hose should I use to get the oil back to the engine?
I purchased 1/2" but I am concerned that there will not be enough pressure in such a large hose. Anyone have experience with this?

6an hose is what I'll be using, I think it's 3/8ths which is what STS kits use.

thanks guys, I will be returning this 1/2" and getting 3/8".

seems rather difficult to get the oil pump low enough to gravity feed out of the turbo, do you guys know if the pump can pull enough if it is not significantly lower than the turbo?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the purpose of the pump is to pull the oil out of the turbo, hence you don't need to worry about a gravity feed. Just don't mount it too far from the turbo and you should be ok.

Yeah i wouldn't think the level of the pump vs the turbo would matter.

Where did you buy the pump, I"m lookin for one. Also are you going to try to run it low voltage for low speed driving like STS does? I was hoping that I could run it at full voltage as it would be a lot easier to wire.

I bought the pump from "System Accessories", its an agric. supply store online. good price! Mounting it finally on Monday, just have the return pump and the trans cooler to mount and the car is done!!!! Well, then the tuning process begins.....

I am running the pump to a simple switch 12v source so hopefully it works alright!!

It says it can self prime up to 14 verticle feet so I would worry about location.

The thing that i find odd about the shurflo pump, is that its only rated at 180deg F. I would think oil would get hotter than that. The pump you linked is rated at 300deg F, and the more expensive one i linked is rated at 350deg F.

Issues with pumps seems to be the biggest downfall of remote mount systems or low-mount front turbos. To me, i would rather spend a bit of money and never have to worry about it. The dual ball bearing one i linked is rated at 10,000 hours. That would easily outlast the vehicle.

I have a shuflo with a 1/2 return and have had no problems. I think returning to the motor should have the least resistance as possible.
Also wiring the pump relay to the fuel pump signal wire allows it to only run when needed, not every time the Ign. switch is on.

Ive put together a bullit proof mechanical scavanging pump for the F body if intrested ? It uses AN 8 lines which can be ran all the way back to your turbo no problem and will out last your car with no hourly rate failure like the electric ones you guys are talking about
