4th gen rear end on 2nd gen???

Exclamation 4th gen rear end on 2nd gen???

Hey guys my friend is in the process of building his 70s camaro. he wants to switch to a coil over set up in the rear and also disc brakes. Will the 4th gen rear end set up work?? i have access to a junked 96 camaro.

3rd & 4th gens use a torque arm instead of leaf springs. i guess it would work if you had a trans crossmember with a torque arm mount. this of course also assumes that the control arm and panhard bar setup on the 2nd gen is compatible with the 3rd/4th gen rear, which i am not sure of

The rear he has now should be an 8.5 10-bolt. It is much stronger than the 7.5's found in the 3rd and 4th gens. The later rears are also wider.
