Default Cat question

Im about to do a header swap pretty soon. Just wondering if there is a good enough cat to replace the factory cat. I heard OB2 cats would work fine, just wanted to know if anyone has replaced theres with an aftermarket legal cat. that still passes smog.

if you are doing LTs there are a few issues. first off, its extremely hard to pass with LTs and a catted y, especially if you delete the emissions equipment. second, if you do get it tuned to pass, you will fail visual. so i would just do the LTs, get some bullet cats to quiet the exhaust down, and buy a smog. just my .02

im not worried about the visual check, thats the least of my worries. Its the sniffer that im more worried about. I want to use my factory cats but not sure if they will fit under my car after i install the L/T so i wanted something to replace them but that works just as good. Would the bullets work good??

the bullets are designed to reduce exhaust noise without giving up power so im not sure they will work that well

Hey HITMAN!! thanks for helping out dude! I dont mind exhaust noise, i just need a cat that will clean up the emissions thats all. Just pass smog and take out and wait 2 more years. Anyone else have experience with an aftermarket legal cat that still works as good as the factory cat??

I have the mods in my sig with removable Magnaflow cats for the duals and I pass (read: legitimately) smog every time; generally with better results than my family's other cars.

Un-tuned.
