Default Horrible stupid problem please help

Default Horrible stupid problem please help
Ok so during my heads /cam swap i apparantly pulled out the tranny dipstick enough to pull the rubber grommet out and have some fluid pour out all over the floor. No biggie i figured ill just put it back in WRONG , how wrong was i.....I spent the last 3 hours trying to push it back in and i couldnt do it. In the process the old grommet ripped off so i went and bought a new one. Now my problem is i cannot pull the tranny tube out far enough to slip the new grommet on the end , this is all thats stopping me from finishing my car. Please anyone with any tips please help

oh yeah its a 4l60e

I think you might have to lower ur tranny down, unbolt the crossmember, support ur tranny with a jack, and try to wiggle the dipstick far enough to slide in your new grommet

Save yourself the headache and buy a lokar trans dipstick. I had the same problem a couple weeks ago. Plus the lokar dipstick doesnt use the rubber grommet just two o-rings.

Did you unbolt the dipstick tube from the back of the passenger cylinder head? If its still bolted there then its not gonna move up and down at all.

So you can do a head/cam swap but are nervous to remove 4 bolts from a crossmember? If the dipstick is unbolted it should move enough to slip in

You're probably going to have to drop the trans and even then its not really easy. Wasn't for me anyways, Been there done that. Dunno what a Lokar trans dipstick is, but maybe thats a good option.
