Default prolly a torque arm question that will get me flamed

I pulled my tranny today and noticed the torque arm was FUBAR. My question is for a temporary fix can i box the torque arm in and weld 3/16 plate where the mounts are just as a temp fix. If i baby the car will it last. I cant afford to replace everything but i do have access to a fab shop. If anyone has any advice please help.

I haven't and most here haven't done it, so there is no telling... Is there a local boneyard where you can get one for cheap? I can't imagine one being very expensive...

I would recommended just looking for another stock torque arm....it's not worth risking further damage to the car or worse yet yourself to save $20.00 to buy a good used one...
