Looking for a title change please. I want to join the "10 Second Club" now :)
Thanks in advance...

Ok well just so everyone knows I managed to pull off a personal best and accomplish ALL of my goals for the 09' season in 1 day! :)

First of all, My goals were....
1.) Drive to the track, Run a 10 second pass, and drive it back home. (1 hour and 20 minutes each way) ;)
2.) Run a 10.99 or better
3.) Run 125 mph or better
4.) Not break anything on my car at the track in 09'
I accomplished them all! LOL

So Anyways, I went to RPM Transmissions Track day today at Muncie Dragway In Muncie, Indiana. There I managed to run several LOW 11 second passes and Just when I was about to call it a day, It happened. I ran a 10.993 @125.61 mph with a 1.659 60' (Hell Yeah!)

The car is a 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with an LS2 Based 403 CI Stroker motor with all forged shelf internals, and STOCK Un-Ported 243 LS6 Heads and a cam equal to the Texas Giant... Bought from Thunder Racing though.
The Transmission is a stage 4 4L60E with a Yank SS4000 stall converter and the Rearend is a stock 10 bolt with 3.42 gears. Suspension is dbl. adj. LCA's, PHB, QA1 12 way rear shocks, UMI SFC's, Edelbrock Dbl. Adjustable Tq. Arm, And tires were 26 x 11.5 x 16 MT ET Streets.

I built this car/put together, By Myself (in my garage) and had it tuned by Chad at GLM. I'm only 24 years old, so give me some credit here lol!

A BIG THANKS goes out to MY DAD! For teaching me to set goals and go for them and never give up! And mostly for having faith in me. It's better to go for something and not achieve it, than to never have tried and always look back and wonder " what if ". RIP Dad, I Love You.
Also, Chad at Green-Light Motorsports for the tuning he did on my car (we all know how much of a PITA it was lol), RPM Transmissions for the track day where I ran my 10 second pass, William W. for building my Transmission, 403Joey *The guy I bought the engine from (longblock), And CaptainInsaneO, and PurdueRanger for all of there help with getting me into the 10's.

Well I just wanted to post up some stuff about my car and brag about my 10 second pass. And give credit where credit is due! Thanks everyone!

Thank You Very Much! :)

I have worked VERY hard to achieve my 10 second pass and I am VERY Excited about it.
I honestly have a ton of relief now that 10's are out of the way lol.
But in due time, I'll be adding stuff to the car and see what else it will do. I'm going to try to get all I can out of it with just a 9 inch and a cage and some suspension. I want to see if 10.5 is possible with the current engine and trans. setup. BUT that may be a little hard to get....

If nothing else, If i can get it to run a consistent 10 second pass almost every time. I'll be happy with it.

Thanks again!

James

Thank you! ;)

I appreciate it alot!

I think it's very cool that you set your goals and achieved them all. I have almost that exact same goal so I'm right there with you. I just made a whole bunch of chassis/suspension changes to the car and this coming Friday will be the first time to the track with those changes. Should be interesting. :)

Well good luck to you this friday man! Hell with your setup and with that mph I'm pretty confident you'll reach the 10 second mark relatively soon. :)

Just work on getting it to hook up and your there!
That was my biggest issue last Friday, It wouldn't leave straight and would spin like crazy if I left any harder than 1500 rpm.

My 10.99 pass was launching off the footbrake at 1500 rpm and just under half throttle till I got it going then FLOORED it.
I still have a little left in it for sure. I'm hoping with the 9 inch and the suspension and cage work this winter, I should see some 10.7's or better. We'll see.

Well best of luck and I hope you reach your goals man!

Thanks man. And yes, suspension mods galore is what I just installed: Adj tunnel mount T/A, Adj LCA's, CE rear drag shocks, and an Airbag. Also installed a 6pt rollbar, weld-in SFC's, and a 3" true-dual exhaust that dumps at the rear axle. Alot of changes since the last time out, so I'm really curious to see what she's capable of. :) This week I want to lose a bit of weight from the car to make up for the 80+lbs of rollbar and sfc's I put on it lol....

Your 60 was great for what sounds like a fairly non-aggressive launch technique. I'd love to hit a mid/low 1.6x 60' mark but it's a fine line between spinning or bogging with a 6sp. What kind of a stall are you running?

I have a Yank SS4000 stall. and a level 4 built Transmission.

My setup is pretty straight forward and nothing real fancy, which is awesome considering the times it has ran.
LOW-LOW 11's consistently, and High 10's with a good launch is very likely from here on out. :)
I'm really learning the car, and to reach 10.99 on my 2nd time to the track that was killer.

And I agree about the 6 speed cars trying to cut a good 60'. They are harder to race IMO. It takes skill to race a 6 speed car. So with that said when you reach 10's that is even more impressive in my book. I probably couldn't run an 11.5 with a 6 speed lol. I can street race a manual but DIG Racing a 6 speed is a lil tricky for me! :hail: :burn:

Thank You!
I am really digging the 10 second street car theme now! haha

Hoping for 10.50's NA already! And 9.90's on a 125 shot- next year!

Going with a 9 inch with 3.70's and a 8 point cage and some more suspension work.
Then gonna put the BITCH on a DIET!

Hoping for 2,9xx lbs.. by next season. And a little better traction. :)

Congrats! :cheers:I can understand your excitement. I ran my first 10 sec pass a few weeks ago. I had to tell everyone I knew. Now I guess it's time for a new list of goals for you next year.

Yeah I told everyone I knew too! LOL - Hell I still tell people. :)
And congrats to you as well. Very impressive! Thank you for the comment!

Congratz!

Thank You Too! :)
BTW, I know I haven't posted in my old build thread in forever. The 1 about my LT1Formula (the 383 build) But I actually sold the 383 I had built and bought the 98 Z. SO I abandoned the LT1 Crowd. :(
But I sold the engine to a good friend who has yet to get it going. I'll lyk what he puts down with it whenever it gets finished. lol
Congrats on your build too btw.
