Car won't go into 3rd, 5th, reverse after install? Hi, I'm having some problems with the tranny and not sure what it is? I recently bought a rebuilt tranny from a member on here and just installed it. I got the install done and tried to start the car for a test run and it's strange and i don't understand what's going on now. When the car is off it will seem like it engages every gear, only when off. When I start the car the tranny will only engage 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th. It's like it hits a wall and 3rd, 5th, and reverse aren't an option? I'm not sure what is going on? Any ideas?

Well it's the same shifter that was in the last transmission and it went into every gear fine on that one. The car will go into gear when it's off. When it's turned on it won't go into 3rd, 5th, and reverse but I'll check.

Every transmission is SLIGHTLY different....do as "thesource" said, check 'em to make sure, do NOT ASSUME anything...
Agreed with trippin also....you can't leave anything out...check all teh basics before you start assuming teh rest...
