Well i found out what was cauing the sound i was hearing, my Upper Ball Joint on the Passanger side of the car is FUBAR'd, lol. it is ripped in half and there is a piece torn off. i have to take it somewhere ot get it fixed b/c i don't have all the tools (no jack execpt one that came with car, as my old one leaked, and no stands), or the time to try to tackle it myself, and since i have never done one before, and i only have one day i could do it (sun).

Anyways, I'm wondering if i should just let them replace them with OEM bushings, or if a sponser sells a "rebuild kit" of some kind. I assume the OEM ones are "1LE" as my car is an '01 SS, but i didn't know if there was somthing better and/or worth it?

Eventually i want ALL my bushings replaces as my car has 92K miles on it, but for right now i just need to get my ball joints fixed; of course I'm doing both sides, up and lower...

Also, anyone know how much $$$ this will cost? Should i bring my lube?

For some reason I doubt there were 1LE balljoints. I see .9 hours on my screen which comes to around $67 plus the part its probably not much more than $100 for the whole job.

As far as suspension, the 1LE option affected coil springs, shocks, upper/lower control arm bushings, and that's really it as far as higher grade/increased performance. The ball joints were just that, upper/lower ball joints for f-bodies. OEM should be fine.

aww **** upper and lower, i wasnt paying attention, the price i quoted was just for the upper. Lower is pressed in while the upper bolts in so i cant really guess at the price. I'm sure somebody will call it out before i get back to work.

i also think i might just have them replace my upper/lower A-arm bushings too. I noticed that the lower ones, atleast, were getting pretty worn and are even pushed in on one side. I think i might just bite the bullet, and buy the MOOG replacements for everything. They will already have most of it apart anyways and the car does have 92K miles on it.

Well i bit the bullet and bought all new MOOG bushings/parts; Tie rods (inner/outer, pass/driver), ball joints (upper/lower, pass/driver), control arms (upper/lower, pass/driver), sway bar endlinks (pass/driver).

Even though i plan on eventually replacing my sway bars with UMI or BMR ones in the future, i'm not sure how far away that may be, and they were only $12. lol.

I bought the parts direct from MOOG. $450 w/ free shipping; $100 less than what Advance Auto wanted.

well, i wanted something equal to 1LE or better then OEM, and everyone said to get MOOG. My Philosophy is a warn out or broken part is an excellent excuse to upgrade to better aftermarket parts, it is how i "justify it", lol.

I also figured that since they have to rip the **** apart anyways it only makes sense to do it all now. Taking into consideration the mileage of the car, it only made sense to do it all at once.

Moog makes a enhanced lower ball joint # 6145T and a HD upper #K6462 if your looking for better than OEM

Most large parts stores handle MOOG, but if not, several major mail order auto parts sources also handle their products. (I'd mention a couple, but I don't know what the forum rules are about mentioning specific suppliers)

I hope the MOD's dont get pissed. I tried looking at our sponser websites and didn't see any that had specific front end bushing rebuild parts on their site.

Eerything for a Camaro is listed under the year of the car you have, EXECPT the upper/lower front A-Arm bushings; they are under the Pontiac Firebird. I have no idea why as they are exactly the same. Anyways, incase you get stuck, that is where i found them.

I figure if UMI installs them on their A-Arms, they must be top notch. I will, eventually, get UMI Upper/Lower Adj front A-arms, but i want to do it at the same time as i get their "street" K-Member, and that won't be for a couple yrs. I figure this won't be as big of a drastic improvement as aftermarket hardware, but it will be better then what i had stock. Right now i can't drive the car, and i don't have the money for new hardware as I'm going back to school and such. This should be a good "middle ground". I'm also replaceing my inner/outer tie rods and swap bar endlinks, so that should help also.

I can't complain though, this car has 92K miles on the factory bushings, and i live in NJ with some shitty weather at times.
