Not to cut in on someone else's sale but, I think 427 erl shortblocks are on sale at morris motorsports for $4500. I think thats the best price out there for any shortblock. I swear i seriously considered getting a loan to get that.

Well I just bought 2 sb's from one of the best known LS engine builders out there. And the price was less than $5k. Let me know if interested.

Just decide if you want an off-the-shelf cookie cutter shortblock, or one that is purpose built. More money can mean less money in the long run.

well said man,i do not know anything about the engines mentioned above, but i will say this.I have fixxed several low price engines from other "engine builders",now instead of a $4600.00 shortblock they have a $7000.00 shortblock after repairs(usually i have to hone the cylinders properly and put in new pistons)

I am sure Shawn at VA Speed is more than capable of providing what you need. If you want to make more than 750hp, you will need to spend more than $5k for a short block typically.

i'm not the only game in town-there are other good engine builders on this site-then there are also bad ones.I'm just saying don't shop by price alone.

People just dont realize this sadly.

I dont have one of your shortblocks, but i paid roughly the same price that you quoted. A motor of the same quality could NOT be had for any cheaper without cutting corners. Maybe its necessary for the OP's application, maybe not... but you get what you pay for.

yeah,we have been too busy working and don't have the time to put into our site.our f/i engines have callies compstar crank and rods, wiseco pistons and rings, clevite bearings, and arp main studs. All machine work is done on our 4 axis cnc and sv 10 diamond hone.Balanced and assembled.I have seen these go over 1000hp many times, although over 800hp i do recommend pinning the main caps which is a $400.00 option.
