Gen 5 Camaro Racing Tech, Results - Motor Trend pulls a 12.9 on a stock SS

Random, but Motor Trend just pulled a 12.9 out of a manual SS camaro, and a 12.8 out of the 2010 GT500.

Missed it somehow on here. Figured since they were this month's MT articles they wouldn't be on here yet.

More impressive I thought was that MT squeezed a 4.5 sec 0-60 out of the Camaro

actually they got a 12.4 1/4 for the gt500 in the comparison against the hennessey camaro. but 12.9 is impressive to me for the camaro ss as heavy as it is. seems like they can move the weight well.

True, just goes to show you how many things can go right or wrong at the track. Only reason I mention the GT500 time from the handling article is because it was same day/same track/same driver. Again not saying that this or any magazine will ever have the fastest 1/4 mile times, I just like to see the same setup comparison is all.

With THAT much horsepower, 100 over a 02+ SS you'd hope they could squeak into the 12's! ;) :lol:

i completely understand, i don't really like the comparison between the gt500 and the camaro ss though. to me the gt500 should be compared to the corvette performance/price wise. fastest stock SS was 12.8x? i believe. fastest stock gt500 was 11.95. im not :sack: on the gt500 either just putting what i've seen on the cars.

the camaro is a much better buy though for the price you can get one, and cheaply modify.

wow, 11.9 stock for that thing is hauling, that damn thing's heavier than the Camaro, even if it does have 550 horses.
