Dyno Guesses & Bench Racing Forum - Help! Srt8 magnum vs my 2000 ss Camaro

Hey guys , just sold my 98 z28 about 4 months ago and couldn't help myself from buying another one. Now I have a 2000 ss Camaro m6 bone stock except for a cat back exhaust . There's this guy at work that has a srt8 magnum with cam and tune and claims to put down 390rwhp. He says he smokes ls1's all the time. He wants to race me so should I be scared or do you guys think I can beat him. This race will be from a 30 roll and then a 75 roll.

If he was stock it would probably be a good race but with 390whp he should be able to take you no problem.

Yea that thing will walk all over you. Get an intake, headers, new y-pipe, tune, and you'll probably beat him.

Get some work done. Those cars run pretty good.

i disagree, if he really is puttin down that much, u will have your hands full, but dont be afraid of that overgrown station wagon.
very common for just about everyone i meet with chargers and magnums that beleive they can walk over any ls1, yet they always decline a race for stakes. :huh:

Uh.....:confused: SRT8 Magnums trap 105-107 stock. It may be heavy, but they move out.

Unfortunatly your gonna get owned. Those Hemi's are like LS1's in a way, doesn't take much to make major power. They just happen to all be in heavy ass cars and mosty attached to automatics lol.

i dont doubt that they move, but hes in a ls1 camaro. he has nothing to fear.
if he can drive, it will make for a close race. esp. from a a roll.

SRT8's can get 400-410rwhp just from CAI/Tunes, just ask Livernois. You should loose but no fear, the 6.1 Hemi doesn't respond as well to mods as the LSX does. Just add a dew more mods and get your respect back later.

FYI, I had an 02 SS M6 with catback, lib and TB. My wife had our SRT8 300C with a CAI/Livernois tune and we went from a 50 roll and she actually had about 1.5 cars on me until 90 when she let off. Just have fun, try to tape it if possible. You never know, he could be full of shet and you'll win..

He can claim all he wants. Stock those things run high 13s. Get an intake and tune and you should be able to take him from a roll. Remember folks power to weight, gearing and aero play a big factor too.

FYI, mid 13's @ 105-110 are the norm. They have even dipped into the high 12's stock near 111mph, though not the norm. From a roll, the advantage goes to an SRT8.

Most in here are respecting the SRT, but some are seriously under estimating them. :chug:

ahhhh, i only saw SRT8. well i ran a SRT8 charger about 2 months ago or so. and i know my car has much to go as far as my mods, but from a 70 roll. i got hurt pretty bad. as much as i HATE HATE HATE to admit it, he was at least two buss lengths on me when we shut down around 110. and he was still pulling.

i dont know his mods, but had exhaust i know, i could hear it.

so youre taking whatever he says as gospel? have you seen the motor, a dyno sheet, time slips?

Raced a 300C SRT8 that was bone stock at the track and he ran 13.3 to my 13.0. I would guess that the magnum is heavier but the SRT8 cars are no joke. Don't have any experiance against them from a roll, plus you have an M6 to his auto should be to your benefit from a roll.
