Thumbs up MMT M2 Cam takes cam only Record....

Unless someone else ran faster than a 10.867 @ 123 MPH last night, our car has set the new bar.

Originally we were going to Hallsville Sat. night, but the weather was too good tonight.

We ran two 10.86's with the best being the 10.867.

We ran a best of 6.88 @ 99.18 in the 1/8th but KR kicked in and stole our 10.7x run.

This is a stock untouched head cam-only car (i.e. bottom side of heads have not seen daylight since birth date of car.

We ran a total of 4 10.XX sec runs last night, with a best 60ft of 1.466 .

The M2 cam is awesome.....

That's pretty sweet. Do you know what the race weight is on your C5?

Awesome times, what was the weight and DA? That is flying for a cam only car, you'd put some hurt on 75% (or more) of the head and cam cars out there.

D/A was an honest -1600 to -1900 feet last night.

The car has not been weighed since the CCW's.

We did have the pass seat out, and no floor mats. You know it’s really hard to pull pounds out of a C5. I would say 3300 pounds give or take 30lbs.

I have a friend with scales that I will use next week.

Congrats on the 10 sec pass Roger. I was hopeing you would bring the vette since the weather was so good. What was the KR coming from? I would have to bring some 100 octane with me next time just in case .

We should have some more better weather days or just as good in january, febuary and march so you get the picture that 10.70s are not out of the question by a long shot.

Most likely due to pump gas and the gobs of free HP we had floating around in the air! We decided to go at the last minute, so we just grabbled tools, helmet, etc. and left at 5 pm. We were going to get some race gas, but we felt we would not have enough time for the car to learn its new diet. Next time, we will have the high octane stuff in a jug.

Jeff thinks on one of our last runs, if we had not had the slight KR, we were on a high 11.7XX run. But we had already 7 runs, the record and it was getting late. Althogh the DA was still very low at 11 pm, the humidity was going up and that usually spells trouble, even with low DA.

The reason why no head work was (and will be) done is I want a car that is not an all out race car. I was originally going to do as I did with my Mustang's: put every bolt-on on the car that exists. My son convinced me to add the stall and then I agonized long and hard to do the cam. Sean convinced me the cam would be a killer and his install price was reasonable.

Anyone can mill heads, shave here and shave there, shoot the NOs, etc, but it takes a little extra work to squeeze the most out of an engine with the stock heads. Before coming to the Darkside, I had always heard that the LS1 stock heads flow damn good, and I guess I am finding that out.

And besides, it’s a hoot besting H/C cars at the track! I would be pissed also if I had just spent $2-3 K on heads as a cam only car cruises by you in the traps!

I understand completely, that is why i am still stock internal and am debating a cam. We have run 11.6's SI and have yet to get negative DA with the car. I hope to run some 11.4's with some great air before going to the cam. And i also love tearing up cars with alot more work done like you said. We were just suprised at the size of the cam, thats all. Congrats on the awesome times.

You can run the G5X-2 with stock heads and see good results.
