Question How hard is it to make your car work on 17" drag radials?

i know there are a few guys on here that run 17" drag radials and have single digit 1/4 mile times, exactly how hard is it to get your car to the point where it works on drag radials? ive been thinking about it and am not sure if i want to stay with the 17" drag radials or buy some 15" wheels and run a 275 or a fat 325. my car works well with them but still hazes them when i leave on it if i leave lower it bogs. input please. car is 6 speed, cam, bolt ons, nitrous, etc.

right now im leaning toward some drag type wheels

Got more options with 15s. That is my 2 cents.

M&H makes a great 17'' DR. I went 10.3 @ 132 or so with them. At the time I had very little suspension work.

Yeah if your going to do it on 17's, I suggest those big *** 325 17's from m&h. I went a 7.0 in the 1/8th on them. 6speed here as well.

Unless you want to go through clutches all the time. I had my car to the track once on 17" BFGs and slipping the clutch I was able to pull a 1.71 w/ bilstien shocks and road race swaybars! But the clutch isn't happy.

you dont need big tires just bias ply...26x10.5 is fine...you just need a tire that will give more than a radial

im going to get my car to work on the 17's (turbo, 4l60) i beleave mighty mouse has gone 8's on 17's so it can be done but your friend will be double adj front and rear shocks.
and i would say a two step would help you be consistant once you get the car working.

I've been 1.55 60' with a cam only t/a that had nothing done to the suspension on a stock rear not trying to kill it.
