Correct me if I am wrong....
I am trying to figure a few things out. Right now I have a 17" wheel with a 40 series tire, if I go to an 18" wheel with a 40 series tire I will increse my ride height by 1/2". If I go with an 18" wheel and a 35 series tire my ride height will stay the same as it is now with the 17" wheel and 40 series tire.
Am I thinking about this correctly? I know ride height isn't the way to measure, I am just using it as a base to start from, thats how my febel mind works sometimes lol.
Thanks

The series # is a percentage of the width of the tire. So you can't really say that straight across the board that a 35 series will be equivalent to a 40 series on a 1" smaller diameter wheel..
For example, a 275/40/17 total height is 25.661" (275 x .40 = a sidewall of 110mm or 4.33", so top sidewall of 4.33" + 17" wheel diameter + 4.33" bottom sidewall)
A 275/35/18 is 25.579" so, at that width, that holds true.
However, a 315/40/17 is 26.921 vs a 315/35/18 is 26.681, so as you can see, the wider the tire, the more the difference is gonna be.

However, a 315/35/17 (which would be 25.68" tall over all) is the right tire for a 17x11ish wheel for our cars, only a few people make a 315/35/18 (MT being one and it would be 25.44" tall) so most go with a 305/30/18, which is 25.2" tall .

Overall Height 315/35/18 = 26.68

I was just using arbitrary numbers as examples I dunno if I'm goin to the midnights or not man. Tyra isnt running right now. Well, she is, but I'm sure her clutch is covered in oil from that leak I had, so I'm not drivin it right now... Are you going? If so, I may come out just to watch you run so perhaps I can do a little bit of vicarious racing
