Default 98 Camaro HID retrofit project.

I finally found a daily driver in time for my clutch master cylinder to go. I slowly put together an HID set up over the summer and decided to begin the retrofit.

Morimoto Ultra Slim Balasts
Morimoto 4300k D2S bulbs
9006 to D2S Wiring Harness
RX330 non AFS projectors

Sorry no pictures of the project
Current pictures do not have the lenses put back on yet.

And how about a before pic

Good choice on projectors.

Are you going to use a shroud?

Have you checked out the HID Planet Forums?

Do you know if you can just buy new headlight lenses? Where did you get your hid's?

The projectors I found cheap on Ebay and did the clear lens upgrade. The ballasts, bulbs, and harness I picked up at theretrofitsource.com. Good stuff there, check it out sometime.

It actually looks very clean. I may not go with a shroud. I haven't checked out HID planet in a couple years.

I'm on the HID Planet Forums with the same screen name.

The RX330 projector is one of the favored projectors over there.

There is a shroud thread there with plenty of ideas in cause you decide you want to put something there.

Nicely done, wish a lot more people would do things right like you did. Rather than putting a kit in a reflector housing and blinding the hell out of people.

Sorry everyone. I haven't posted any updates here recently because my car has been under the knife for the last couple of years. I honestly do not have any pictures of the finished product but you might be able to look in my albums and find one, I am not sure. This winter I plan of popping the headlight open again and adding a chrome shroud just to clean up the appearance a bit. I am also going to clean up the back of the housing to look a little more factory as well. I like that, other than being really bright, the headlights still look pretty factory.

The projectors I picked up from ebay for about 25 bucks and did a clear lens for abour 40. The non-afs projectors were very bulky at first but I cut down a lot of the cut off shield.

The biggest issue with a retro fit is getting your alignment right. There are a few methods but I just used the lights before I started the project and marked on a wall where the lights lined up. Then when I installed the projector I had the lights back on the car to line it up with the original light. Once they were aligned I just clamped them in place until the cylicone dried.

I doesn't take a ton of skill to do but sometimes some imagination to do a clean retro fit. The light output trumps any other lighting upgrade you could do for your headlights and they don't blind oncoming traffic.

Quick Reply: 98 Camaro HID retrofit project.
