I have a 1999 camaro z28 it has a 3000 stall in it and the tranny was built by a local shop around my area. well yesterday i was driving it and when i hammer on it it goes nowhere and spikes to rev limiter and backfires then the car shut off. what will i be looking at to fix this problem? Thanks

Sounds like you might have a broken pump or another internal issue. Maybe even a rear end. Have someone help you with this when doing this it takes two people. Verify that the drive shaft is not spinning with the car sitting still while in gear. If not make sure that he pump is pumping fluid. You can do this by removing one of your cooler lines at the radiator or external cooler easily. Make sure when you do this that you have a jug ready to catch the fluid if the pump is working properly. Just a FYI the bottom line on the trans is the pressure line. Follow that line up to the radiator/cooler and install it into a jug. Best of luck. Vince B

Sounds like a trans or converter issue.

The backfire is probably unrelated, or maybe you just heard your revs dropping. Sounds like you either slipped the trans pretty bad or your pressures are too low.

If i get a tune to get the pressure turned up will it fix the prob. the car only does it when it has to downshift it's like it wont catch a gear on a downshift. If i roll in first and hammer it it goes?
