Default For the ones building their own Front Mount setup...

Well, found out today from my tuner that the turbo is not draining properly allowing oil to backup in the turbo cuasing oil to leak past the seal and into the downpipe. Just wanted to let the ones know that are in the process of building a lower front mount setup on a budget a scavenger pump is likely needed. Not too much $$ extra, but extra none the less.

The pump I chose is the 12VDC Version:TurboWerx Part # TWX-300-12V (About $450 to install and dial in). Having them install that along with a Turbonetics manual boost controller.

Oh well, I was planning on having it all tuned and dyno'd tomarrow, but I want to make sure it's all good.

To be continued!!

This is about the best pic I have (at work). Feed is basically a stainless steel brake line, drain is 1/2" to oil pan on the drivers side just above the oil level.

Check the 1st post, that has some decent pics.

I'm running a scavenger pump on a TT system for a GTO.
I planned for this in advance to avoid the potential troubles. The turbo's drain would have a long way to drain with the way its' set up now.

I've been a bit worried on mine, if I will need one or not.... My turbo is a liiiiitle bit higher than yours, but not a whole lot.... Think I would have trouble too and should avoid the headache and just do a pump from day one? (Pics on Page 2 in build thread in Sig) Thanks...

Little off subject, but does the return line from the turbo have to run at a 30 degree angle all the way to oil pan/timing cover, or just right out of the turbo? My turbo will be high enought for no pump, but just ? routing line

I would say yes. You can buy the entry level pump from Turbowerx for about $250. I have heard you have to dial them in tho with nitrous jets/restrictors. I just said the hell with it and let my tuner install it and tune it.

A lot of it has to do with vehicle stance. If it's raked, imagine how it's gonna perform when braking. From what I have found out the turbo MUST be atleast 8-10" above oil pan to properly drain without a pump. IF I would have known this, I probably would have designed it different. Oh well, lesson learned.

Alright. I think Ill go ahead and commit to a pump before I run into trouble... easier that way!
