Default New '08 ZO6 Corvette Owner

Hi Gang,

I just took delivery on my brand new 08 ZO6 Vette yesterday.

I'd like to see if, some of you guys can help me get more farmilar w/ the do's and don't of my new M6 Vette? Havin been a F-body owner and havin owned several f-body. But, this is my 1st Vette

Plus, can anyone tell where to find more info on the exhaust valves on the exh. tips. That was pointed out to me yesterday by a good friend. Like I said, this y-body is a whole new experience for me.

Thanks in advance,
Don

Get a Vararam or Callaway cold air intake to let that LS7 breath! Those are both true cold air intakles. You'll thank me later...

very nice, just like the car I WILL be getting eventually.
With a CAI, headers and a tune you will be close to 500rwhp.
For the exhaust valves, not sure what you want to know. If you go WOT and go past 3000 rpms the valves will open up and get nice and loud. If you go to LG motorsports website you can get a switch that will allow you open the valves anytime, just like cutouts. Very nice setup btw. Called the man switch from LG.

CONGRATS!!! Lol if you wanna be cheap about the exhaust vlalves there is a fuse you can pull and they will stay open all the time. But look into it. IM not certain on this but i heard headers (even LG's) only net 6-8rwhp??? Is this true?? Id guess the factory manifolds are that well built. Def do a CAI. Depending on your long run though....if you wanted a cam, the headers would much better benifit from it. ENJOY!!!!

Be advised that a tune will void your powertrain warranty.

As for CAI, I will eventually be trading my Vararam for the new LG Motorsports ram air. Beautiful setup and doesn't require cutting up the stock shroud.

Don't leave traction control on at the drag strip. Turn everything off.

Don't floor it in a corner until you've had plenty of seat time. It can get away from you. Active Handling will kick in and save your bacon, but if you're not prepared for it, you can overcompensate and put it into a guardrail.

Do take advantage of HPDE events if you can find them in your area. It will really help you get to know the car's limits.

The remote Mild to Wild controller is a must. You can open the baffles when you're feeling spirited, yet close them to talk on the cell phone. Highway drone drives me nuts, so I like to be able to turn it off.

Beware the mod bug. Once it bites, you're always looking to do something else to it no matter how much you've done. Mine is now cammed as of last week. The power is intoxicating.

Congrats on a great car. Have fun and stay safe.

Thanks, for all of the congrats on the purchase of the ZO6.

This car is unbeleivable, the way it drives and hugs the road, not to mention the awesome power of that 7.0L engine

Trust me guys, I know about the mod bug. I've been doing it ever since I purchase my 96 Impala SS and hooked up w/ NAISSO(Natl Association of Impala SS owners). Been performing 'em on all my cars(and/or trucks) ever since.

I've been spendin alot of time in the FAQ's areas concerning the Vette. I'd like to get alill more familar w/ it. Before I start gettin to much more involve in the performin of the mod on it. Plus, I'd like to get thru the break-in period alill more(@ 360 mile on the speedo).

Thanks again,
Don

Applied the 1st coat of Zaino interior leather in a bottle yesterday on the Z

Due to the whitess skid/brush marks that were showin up mainly on the door panels. The door panels look alot better w/ a good coat of Zaino on 'em, now.

Thanks for all the congrats and be safe out there

Later,
Don

Start changing your clutch fluid immediately if you don't want to get clutch pedal sticking issues.

Too funny. I just ordered a whole new batch of Zaino stuff this week. What I have is running dry (in some cases, literally - ZFX didn't survive the summer heat in the garage).

Getting ready for car show season.

Another tidbit to follow-up on my PM for benefit of others, keep a close eye on your oil pressure. There's a service bulletin for the oil pump pressure relief valve where it can stick and cause low, or in some cases no, oil pressure. Mine just had the low oil pressure problem starting a couple of weeks ago, and now I have a Katech oil pump on order for it.

I'll add the Lingenfelter oil tank to it at some point, but the increased scavenging of the Katech pump should suffice for now.
