If your using GM heads the stock rocker arms are hard to beat. Light and very strong.

Waste of money unless you plan on making over 1000hp

On an aftermarket head the benefit of a roller tip rocker is in the ability to setup the geometry to reduce guide wear. The guides on most aftermarket heads are softer than the GM guides. Setting up the wipe pattern reduces side loading and will prolong the life of an aftermarket valve guide. There are drawbacks as the weight over the nose of the arm is increased wich can present stability issues. This is why on a GM head these stockers rock! I have been running them on my 5.3's for a long time and see 7200 rpm's.

What heads are you running? FWIW I made 455RWHP on a Mustang Dyno thru a stalled unlocked auto and a Moser 12 bolt. This would go near 500 to the tire on a dynojet coupled to the run of the mill 6 speed/10 bolt combination. Stock rocker arms.

yea it def. cant hurt man, few extra ponies, and eliminate the side loading, longer valvetrain life, and shiny parts when valve covers are off lol

I'd keep the stockers unless you are wanting to spin the thing to the moon (8k). I'd look somewhere else for HP gains then rockers. IMO

You can use stock rocker arms they will work just fine for you. If you'd like Harland Sharp sells a modification kit for the stock rockers that replaces the center trunion assembly. That is the only portion of the stock rockers that have shown to be a problem.

I swapped a set of HS 1.8's out for my stock 1.7's and they made a huge difference in overall engine response and smoothness. Might have just been the switch to the higher ratio not the roller tips but I really like them. They are a lot noisier than stockers but have gotten a little better in the last 500 miles. I have about 2k on them now.

Stock rocker arms are pretty much bullet proof. Unless your going to 700hp or .650 lift and above. Those are the only times I would say go ahead and go after market. There are plenty of LS series engines where I am from making 600hp to the wheels with stock rocker arms.

Go stock arms and do the Comp Cams trunion upgrade. Just did mine in the garage in about an hour and a half. Pressed in with vise and two sockets. Now there caged bearing no need to worry about needles falling in engine and the price is cheap 139.99. I like the upgrade alot..
