I ran the hurst competition plus with the offset chrome handle on my m6. The billet plus is nice too.

When I first got my T/A and found this site, I bought into all the hype about the pro 5.0 I ran it for about 6 months, and yes I missed gears with it. Its not a driving thing its a shifter thing. I got tired of it and heard about the MGW and figured I would give it a try. I bought my MGW shifter and ended up selling my pro 5.0. You can not even compare the two. The mgw is outstanding, I dont miss shifts, EVER, the mgw is so smooth and accurate I will never run anything else.

It's funny, I made this same thread years ago and was really upset.
Some guy took bolts with heads the same size as the spring holes and cut them short to make more tension.

I learned to put the shifter where I want it and not worry about some little springs to help me shift.

I now make sure the shifter goes where its supossed to go, but that kills time and you sure as hell dont wanna power shift like that.
Ive been driving a M6 F-body since 96 and could pull off some damn good times when the shifter works, so im possitive its not me. Never missed with my old Billet plus.
Now I need to decide MGW, or back to hurst.

Ill prob try that washer trick in the mean time. Ive also heard of people putting Hurst springs in the Pro 5.0 and that cured the prob.

ya one thing, is alot of people Ive seen that had both, say

hurst billet/plus > pro50.

But not anyone saying the other way... that says somthing.
I've never had a Hurst to know if its better. But last year at the shootout I was having troble going into 4th, and on the way home realized I forgot the "hand postion" thing. And was atemping to do a 3-4 palm in Its been fine sence, just 1 new clutch, same trans.

1-2 palm in
2-3 open hand
3-4 slight backhand
slight "prelaod" ask you kick the clutch goes right in.... But after 1st pass mostly, taking it easy kinda, lol. I get in the goove and good all night not thinking about shifting.

I like my Pro 5.0 but I see how it could be problematic. You definitely have to think about your hand position and pull slightly towards the pass. seat on the 3-4 shift because of how the springs locate the shifter.

Your clutch probably isn't disengaging fully and locking you out.

Could be, not for sure, it seems to only happen at higher RPMs and WO. We put a RAM adjustable master in from my friends WS6(he went auto recently) and we made 3 runs...broke a billet key on the 3-4 shift and locked the trans in 4th gear.$540 later....I would hope we get it to work.
To original poster......SORRY for the highjack.

In my old LT1 car it had a stock hurst in it and i never missed a gear in it. this spring i got a 2000 Trans Am with a Pro 5.0 and i felt like i had never power shifted before in my life!! I was soo frustrated so i got a stock hurst and it was better but still notchy so right now im putting a tick master in it and building the **** out of the transmission, so hopefully it will shift A+++++ now. FWIW I have a Spec 5 clutch

I tried the pro 5.0 as well...I think it's more hype than anything.

I've had the factory hurst in both my cars and liked them the most.
