7/16 rocker studs & girdle worth it?
i have a .590 lift 242/248 hydraulic roller for my 383. i have some comp rr's on arp 3/8 studs & 918 beehives. i will rev the motor no more than 7,200 rpm. would it be worth the money to get arp 7/16 studs & different rr's? how about a stud girdle?

i would do it. I know alot of people that are breaking 3/8 studs. A stud girdle is always a good thing to add especially at 7200. I shift my 383 at 7200 with a girdle and 7/16 studs, so far so good.

The money you are going to spend on new rr and 7/16 studs and a girdle, you might as well look into a shaft system. I have one from T&D on my 406 and you can use a regular valve cover instead of a tall one. It cost me a grand for it and you use a regular valve cover on it. I tell everybody its just a lil 327 with a cam

I don't really think it's necessary in this application. Of course, it won't hurt, but the main culprit of a flexing valve train spring pressure. With a hydraulic roller cam you won't be running excessive pressure, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. RPM does play a roll as well, but I wouldn't feel too comfortable taking those heavy hydraulic roller lifters to 7200 and still maintaining valvtrain control.

most definitely 7200rpm and that heavy hyd.roller lifter your gonna need it.if you have a set of comp cams rockers you can send them back and have them swap the trunnions to 7/16(thats what i did) cost was about a hundred and some change I don't remember the exact price but it wasn't that much.I had a big solid lifter cam in my last 383 with 3/8 studs.I used to shift it at 7000 well one night i lost second gear in the trans and got the motor to 8000rpm and consequently bent seven rocker studs pushrods and a few valves.

would i notice much by switching to a solid roller cam? i know i would need different lifters, but is the rest of the valve train interchangable like springs & rockers?
i think im gonna use a set of 1.5 ratio 7/16 crane gold arms and stud girdle from my dads nova. my cam card calls for 1.6 ratio rockers tho.

You will need stronger springs. Hydralic roller uses around 160 lbs and solid uses aroung 250. Crane golds will work, get some good pushrods.
All the 1.6 does is give you more lift than the 1.5's. Maybe a couple of degree's duration if your lucky. If you have the 1.5's available, use them. And the stud girdle.
