Carb or EFI??
Ok im tired of all these darn computers and sensiors i have on this car. So would switching to the edelbrock Carb kit get rid of at least some of them? i was told i would make more keeping it EFI...True or False? ANY HELP????

the fact that every time i do something theres always some type of program or something that has to be changed or tuned. im wondering if i change it to carb if it will just get rid of most of the computer hassle.

not really but my dad has built and raced cars for a long time so he knows a lot about them. i know that you do have to tune them depending on the weather and the altitude. but its still less than what i gotta go thru now. they have a nice sound to them too when there running on carb. i just dont want to lose power thats all.

You won't lose power as long as whoever tunes it knows what they're doing. Get yourself a wideband so you won't have to pull plugs every 10 mins. Get a good carb with removable air bleeds so you can tune it nicely

The few straight-up comparos I've seen, seem to show
carb the same or better HP than injected. But it's going
to be a hack-job bitch to get a carb under the cowl on
a 4th-gen.
Unless you found a 75mm side-draft

Yea I know that there will be some modification that'll need to be done but long as it benefits me in the long run im fine with it. a mechanic by where I live said that if I put that kit on my check engine light with stay on and I won't ever be able to get the car inspected yall know if that’s true or not?

If your state does OBDII inspections, you won't pass. If you run the 6LS box and completely do away with the ECM(like I did) the SES light can't come on.

I've done pretty well with HPTuners and tuning the Camaro through
the usual mod-ups, but I have to say that in 25+ years of low-rent
beater-drivin' I have spent a lot less time, effort, money on carbs
and distributors than on the couple of EFI vehicles I have owned.
One carb costs like one set of injectors, only any Shade Tree Joe
can clean and rebuild a carb. And if you run out of carb you just
go a little slower than possible, while running out of injector makes
holes in stuff. I had a Cadillac that ran OK enough, that I was
surprised when I went to rebuild the carb on a whim and found
the bowl full of lawn clippings. They're just much more forgiving.
Don't ask me how the crud got in there. But a little bit of fine
silt will just ruin your EFI (been there, twice). And you've got to
love all the closed-loop sensor-happy comedy potential.
Yeah, yeah, modern electronics, diddy-wah-do. I work with it all
day long. Nothing like that, to make you mistrust complexity.

Sorry stupid question but....your saying i need to run the msd box that comes in the kit and use the 6LS box as like my ECM?? or just run the 6LS??
