Default Best street tire for launching under $140?

My rear tires are at the point where I'm scared to turn in the rain, almost completely flat across, and was wondering if anybody has any experience with the listed tires. I've gotten a 2.067 60' with my 245/45/17 general exclaims and like them a lot especially since they are VERY cheap, grip better than my old Goodyear RS-A's and Firestone (whatever was replaced by the wide-oval) and have a 360 wear rating plus they are lightweight. I would prefer the tires to be good in the rain since my car is a DD.

Also should I go with a 275/40/17 or 245/45/17 again? Since the rim is 8.5" and 275's are recommended for 9.0" and up wouldn't the tire not adhere to the road 100%, but everybody does put 275s on 8.5s. Thanks.

I have the Exclaim UHP's and I have been very happy with their performance. They grip extremely well on the street (useless on the track though) and I'm also impressed with the wet performance. I've never had an "oh ****" moment in the rain unless I'm trying to **** around. They've lasted me about a year and are also cheap

If you are talking rear tires I would definitely get 275, 245s will have you sliding all over the place with the power you're making. 245s are fine for the front though

i have the khumos and like them alot.last time at the track launching at 4k-45k slipping the clutch a tiny amount was bogging with tire pressure at 22psi.
have not found thier limit on windy tight turn back roads and no hydroplaining
at 100mph in seattle weather.i know i can order them thru work regular customer price for 160 ish ea in a 275/40/18.i think they are great for the money, i have had pilot sports, pirellies, bf goodriches and nittos and for the money cant beat them.oh yeah and as far as 60fts they were 2.001 with current mods and needing a driver mod and with 2 bad front o2 sensors

I agree ncfastls1, they are good in the turns but definately not the best. Mostly because the sidewalls are so soft giving good traction off the line. Very good in the rain too. How much miles did yours last? I have about 7,000 miles on mine but with a lot of drifting, burnouts, donuts. Thats why I'm hesitant on the Dunlops at 200 wear rating. That means it would only last about 4-5 thousand miles if I keep it up.

Nice 60' stangtrader, anybody have the Dunlops? I think they would be easy sub 2.0 60' since they were pulling .97+g's on a BMW 328 for tire rack and are rated 9.5 for traction. (Others are 8.0-9.0)

I just recently put the BF Goodrich G-Force Super Sport A/S on my z28. It had the ectasa or somthing or other on it....With the old tires, first gear was a major burn out.....then second gear I would burn out again, and on backroad, even 3rd gear would scratch because of the small amount of dirt and gravel on the road.......Also it had some understeer when turning hard....

The new G-Force, still a little burn out out of a dig, but not half as bad as it was, absolutely no 2nd gear spin, and I haven't bothered trying that backroad out again for 3rd but since no spin in 2nd I would assume none in 3rd.. Oh and now....if anything, I may have it a little loose in the corners like its supposed to be, but really it just grabs really really nice...

BF Goodrich G-Force Super Sport A/S for the win in a DD!!

Falken RT-615s are great, and very cheap at about 150 a tire.

I have Yokohamas and they suck. Crappy grip in all weather, including sunny days. Definitely can't wait until they need replaced.
