Default The Hot Rod goes 6.99 @ 96.73 MPH in 1/8 mile

This Thanksgiving my wife and I went to Hattiesburg, MS (Hub City Dragway) for 2 days of bracket racing.

Friday, we went 5 rounds. In round 5 I red lighted with a .497 but we ran a 6.99 @ 96.73 mph with a 1.44 60 foot. Big thanks to Madman for the slicks! This is with a stock B1 cammed moter. Thanks again Andrew for the use of the little motor that could. This motor just ROCKS!

Saturday, we went 3 rounds. I treed the guy I was racing but I didn't run the number. We were having a very hard time dialing the car in the 3rd round. Hell, it was 37 degrees and the computor said it was going to run a 7.05 but it was real cold and I was thinking it would pick up and put a 7.03 on the window. Well, I should have put a 7.05 on her. We ran a 7.05 and the guy I was racing ran a 6.16 on a 6.15 dail in.

We had a great time and plan going back next year during Thanksgiving break. We met some new great people and of course we saw all our old friends we race with all the time.

Next race will be this weekend at TAD. They are running for $2,500.00 to win both Top Et and Footbrake. I will see if we can win a little money this coming weekend.

Thanks to my wife Kayle, Andrew, Thunder Racing and Madman Racing for all your help. Maybe we will get back to winning a couple of races real soon.

Wow, I never would've thought that little motor would go 6.99 in the 1/8th. I can't wait to see your times when you get your *real* motor in there.

FWIW, that motor put down 354 RWHP in my car (the weekend before it was pulled out), and my best time was 11.96 @ 116. Just shows what weight reduction (and an A3) can do. The only difference is the motor now sports an LS6 intake, and my numbers were through a full exhaust.

That's a riot. Glad you had a good weekend.

Nice racing Coach! 5 rounds is awesome! Sounds like a huge field of cars too.

.497 redlight ACK! don't ya hate that!

Here my 2nd round loss in brackets yesterday, this was the closest race I've had in a long time. I cut a .007 to his .002, I was dialed in 10.840 and ran 10.839, A friggin .001 under my dialin.

My dad was messing with me because I turned him down on eating a hotdog, he said that 1 pound hotdog would have slowed me down .001 LOL it was too funny.

Good Luck Next Weekend!!

Andrew,
Thanks! I owe you big time!

Lee,
Thanks buddy. It was a pretty big field. I lost in the quaters. I made alittle money.

Hey, I understand. What a close package on both sides. I have been there and done that. I did win one of those type of races this past weekend. The guy I was racing broke out by .001 and I ran 2 over. Cool to be on the other side every once in awhile.

Hey Coach do you prefer to chase or be chased in brackets?

I used to always be the one that was getting chased last year when I was running 12's-11's, I never really minded it. I kind of liked seeing my bulbs first.

Now I'm runnin 10.80's I was chasing every race. I really like it, I don't have to look over my shoulder anymore. I can see his front tires and the traps so much easier. Plus if the other guy red lights, I know about it before I go.

Lee,

I prefer to chase. I like the fact that they have a chance to red light first.

When we get the new Thunder Racing motor in her I hope to always chase. We are looking to run 10.50's in the 1/4 and 6.50's in the 1/8.

As usual good job Coach Lee you need to tighten it up a bit at the stripe,.004 thats way to much The round I lost Saturday night I got cute at the stripe and gave it away by .0008 Friday night lost was sweet also I was running a faster car,the scoreboards were out, I left then about 330 out i looked in the rearview mirror and saw his last yellow light burning steady I figured he redlite. I ran it out to get a dial for the next round. Little did I know that the green on the backside of the tree burned out and they replaced it with a yellow. When that crap happens only one thing to do Frank95z

No Coach , Our year is broken into two seasons and the first season I ran 3 of 7 races in Non E instead of street. Second season I finished 2nd by 2 rounds of 90 drivers. But with my gold card this year I earned $1200 so I'm racing on there dime next year anyway Frank95z
