Default 408 Build in Progress - 1950 Chevy Truck!

Here is a new kind of stroker build, its going in my 1950 Chevy truck! I sent my 6.0l iron block off to the machine shop to get bored .030 over (1 sleeved cylinder as the engine had bent a rod and scratched the bore), line honed, honed with deck plate. I ordered a 408 stroker kit that has an eagle crank, eagle h-beam rods, and Mahle flat-top pistons to give me 10.7:1 with a 72cc head. I just dropped off the block and ordered the kit yesterday. This is currently where I am at.

I have searched and seen that the 2 best heads to use are:
AFR 225 and TFS 235.

Will the Trick flow 235 heads work on a 4.030 bore or do I need the Trick Flow 225 heads. What head gaskets will work best on this bore/cylinder head combination and be .040 thickness (recommended by the machine shop)? What The machine shop told me to stay away from TF heads because they have repaired many bad valve guides (on non LS1 heads). Do the new TF heads for LS1 heads use bronze valve guides, if so, then the shop said they are all right.

The TFS heads require roller rockers (Harland Sharp, Yella Terra, etc). Can the AFR heads use stock rocker arms?

I guess a FAST 90/90 setup is mandatory for a n/a setup.

I don't want to ask the ago old question "what cam do I need?" I know that is beaten to death here. I am looking in the 230-240 range and about 600/600. I will just keep searching through Patrick G threads.

I will be running a built 4l65e with about 3000 stall. I am looking for a strong mid range. Is it possible to have a good power band for the street but can still have 500 rwhp/tq numbers? The truck is not very heavy like todays trucks, mine weighs about 3400. The body looks stock but is mostly fiberglass and aluminum. Right now I have a 5.3l that makes 331 rwhp and it runs great but it is mostly top end hp. The truck will be mostly street (car cruises, shows, and maybe once to the track)

Any suggestions and links to other ls1tech.com 408 builds would be helpful. I have been using search too, but other ideas are helpful. Thanks!

i would get the tfs 235's or ET 225's yella terra's and a fast 92/92 ported to 95mm by vengence and have them spec you a cam and if you donta want to spend the extra few hundred on getting it ported out of the boxit will be good enough

I would like to know for sure how to run TFS 235 heads on a 4.030 bore. I see it done all the time here but TFS and all the retailers advertise it for a 4.125 or larger bore. They do offer a TFS 225 head for 4.00 bores. I remember reading that a larger bore head gasket will help the 235 heads fit on a smaller bore, but will the larger bore head gasket lower my compression ratio slightly?
