Default s-10 LS

i am building a S-10 to drive and go play with at the track might go supercharged or turbo later on not really sure gonna have a bottle for now. i bought a 60k mile 5.3 and i have already got it taken apart and i am getting the heads ported. they should be done withing the week. the motor looked rel good and so did the bearings. I am goign carb due to the wiring that i dont wanna mess with. what cam do you believe i should go with. the truck will have a turbo 350 with a stall according to my cam and a 4.11 in a 9 inch. the truck will weigh 2800 with me in it. i was thinking LS6 because i am spraying it and going Forced induction later

The '02+ LS6 cam is a very good cam for the 5.3 motors. Personally I would call Thunder Racing as I bet they have a better cam out there. Maybe the old man cam?

i have almost got myself talked into the LS6 cam. due to the cost and the fact that im going forced induction later on. that size stall should i go with? 3500? its not gonna be driven daily just a toy with drag radials a 4.11 rear end and a pile of gas

Yeah you can find a used '02+ LS6 cam used for a decent price but the old man cam would be good on spray and turbo as it's on a 115 lsa. I would get a tight 3500 or 3600 stall. Try to get a lock up so that it'll help fuel mileage while cruising down the highway. If your not concerned with mileage then the non lock up converters are a little cheaper. I've had both and I think it's worth the few extra bucks for a lock up. You can also buy a lock up controller to decide at what mph you want it to lock up under normal driving.

Go with a Hotcam 219/228 525/525 on a 112 or even better get the Lingefelter GT11 cam. Its great for forced induction, and GMHTP just did a 10 cam shootout on the LS3 and the numbers it made were surprisingly good with awesome manners on a non FI motor. It specs out at 215/231 629/643 on a 118. Or you could go custom say a 215/233 628/587 on a 117 or 222/234 579/588 on a 115 could be used so you wouldn't have to use a double spring rated to .650 to run it. The main thing is all 3 of these cams I spec'd to you have 0 to -11 degrees of overlap which will make tuning them a lot easier since carb's do not like wide LSA's unless the overlap is kept in check.

BTW: Get a Yank SS3600 these are good for spray or a PY3400 are really good for forced induction.

There isnt any "Dealing" with wiring on these. Just buy the plug and play harness from Current Performance. Its what I did, all my factory gauges work too. The cost of a carb and MSD to run the coils will be as much, or more, than the harness...if your interested in EFI at all.

As far as the cam Im a fan of Comps LSR cams, I have one and its awesome, In a 5.3L you could get something like 215/223, 219/227, or 223/231 all around ~.610-.620(ish) lift. I debated all three before I got mine.
