Default Noob question I can't find in the sticky.

First I just want thank everyone on LS1 Tech, for those who don’t know my car is in the shop and the help online here has been invaluable. Thanks.

Here is my question, in two parts; I am stepping up to 4.10 gears from stock how exactly will by speedometer be affected. Will it say I’m doing 65 when I am really doing 60 or the other way around.

The second part is why would it change at all? I have always assumed that the speedo measured at the wheels in which case why would the gear change make any difference?

Any help explaining this would be greatly appreciated. (also so I don’t sound like an idiot in front of the wife).

If you have an M6, 1500 rpm in 6th is 55mph, 2000rpm is like 75. Your speedo will be off quite a bit from the stock 342's. But I can tell you, you can't appreciate what's under the hood until you drive with 4.10's.

Yes, your speedo will say faster than actual speed by the difference of your stock ratio and your new ratio (PCM can be edited for this error)
